5 WEEKS.

Steadily growing like a weed!

Shes still wearing newborn clothes (some, most 0-3 are too big) and newborn diapers.

Ive learned I hate Huggies, love Pampers and will be trying Luvs soon.

Jaselyn has recently discovered her tongue, constantly playing with it like a lizard. 

She recieved lots of fun toys for Christmas but her Fisher Price Soothe & Glow Seahorse is probably her favorite!

JASELYN'S FIRST CHRISTMAS

Christmas is here and sad to say, it's just become another day without my Granny around. Due to a shortage of funds (maternity leave) I wasn't able to provide like I usually would but Jaselyn has everything she NEEDS. We spent the day cuddled up in bed and ventured to 'his' house this evening for two hours so she could visit with her uncle and grand parents and receive her presents, where I was shocked to only receive a pair of pink fuzzy socks while the family bragged about their new xboxs, $600 worth of Dicks Sporting Goods gift cards and fancy necklaces. I'm not one to be vein, but I don't ask for anything from this family, including child support, I care for Jaselyn full-time and bend over backwards to allow this family to visit her anytime they desire. Never have I felt more disrespected. My mom warned me that I'd "lose my identity" and I feel I finally have. Instead of being Jessica, I'm just Jaselyn's Mom now. Everything is about her and I'm okay with that, because I only want what's best for my daughter. It's a shame others don't see things my way.

4 WEEKS/ONE MONTH OLD

Hard to believe a month ago, I gave birth to this precious girl. 

Each day I look into her eyes and wonder if it's possible to love someone more.

Its amazing how I never imagined myself with a kid and now I cant imagine life without her . 

FIRST DOCTORS APPOINTMENT

Jaselyn's one month doctor appointment was today. She checked out great at 7 lbs 10 oz and 20.5 inches. No shots until 2 months. She's now eating 4 oz and last night she snuggled with Mommy and her Wubbanub for a consecutive 6 hours between feedings (typically only 3-4 hours). Such a good girl!

A MOTHER'S PRAYER

Hello there, Lord, its me again.
It always seems I call you when
I need someone to understand
that I could use a helping hand.

In answer to my foremost prayer,
you've placed a child into my care.
And I've tried hard to be prepared,
but frankly, Lord, sometimes I'm scared.

Will I be all that I should be?
And can my child depend on me
to be there when the nights are long;
to know whats right, to know whats wrong?

Yet as these thoughts run through my head,
I think of what my Mom once said
"Whatever challenge faces you,
Your best is all that you can do."

Well thank you, Lord, for showing me
the wisdom of simplicity.
So I'll just take things day-by-day
and keep in touch if that's okay.

3 WEEKS OLD

 

Quite the personality and such a drama queen.

I'm still adjusting to motherhood, late nights and early mornings, and of course preparing her and myself for the day, making sure we're both dressed and the diaper bag is stocked.

And I'm (slowly) beginning to feel better, but still having issues with my hemoglobin and pain.

Jaselyn has become so alert and beginning to grin.

I just can't believe my baby will be a month old here soon. It feels like just yesterday she was born.

2 WEEKS OLD

 

Jaselyn amazes me everyday. I couldn't love her more.

I learn something new everyday with her.

She hates being naked, cold or being tickled. Loves being swaddled and has a fascination with her hands.

She also finally lost her umbilical cord this week.

She doesn't like pacifiers unless its her Wubbanub and she's so independent trying to hold up her head already. I bet she'll be rolling over in no time.

She has the tendency to kick her feet, a lot, when shes mad so finding both of her feet in one leg of her sleeper is common.

She's truly the best baby I could ever ask for.
